
1. COMMITMENT TO EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICE
The Academy has a strong commitment to utilising current evidence-based art and play therapy research in order to inform best practice when working with clients and relevant stakeholders. The Academy defines “best practice” as the integration of the best available art and play therapy research with the best available clinical expertise in the context of client needs and well-being.
2. PRACTICE-BASED RESEARCH
Led by the Academy's Director, the Acadmey has a strong commitment to producing and publishing practice-based research on clinical art and play therapy. The Academy offers an elective subject on conducting and publishing research which is offered to graduates of the Postgraduate Diploma of Clinical Art & Play Therapy.
3. CLINICAL ART & PLAY THERAPY PROGRAMS
The Academy has developed a number of clinical art and play therapy programs to address specific client needs and issues. Programs are licensed to Registered Clinical Play Therapists who have been trained in program delivery, ongoing evaluation and final assessment (for more information about Registered Clinical Play Therapists see services). All programs follow clear clinical protocols and guidelines and are evaluated using pre and post standardised measures of assessment. Program implementation and outcomes feature in the Academy's practice-based research projects.
